Who you would be talking to

I am not the person who read about this.

The bank I worked for told me I could resign or be managed out on ill-health grounds. I had spent the years before that telling everyone things were busy but fine.

What the letters say

Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health. Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute. Five years as the Institute of Directors' South West Ambassador for Wellbeing.

All accurate, all checkable, and none of it the reason anybody calls.

What actually qualifies me

I have sat where you are sitting and got it wrong for long enough to need help.

The credentials came afterwards. They are the paperwork on an education I would not recommend to anyone.

Why that order matters

Most people who advise leaders on this studied it first and met it later, if at all. I met it first. That is not a better qualification in every respect. It is a narrower one, and it is the reason a chief executive will say something to me at nine at night that they would not put in an email.

What I am not is a clinician. I am not a therapist, I do not diagnose, and I do not treat. When something needs clinical care I say so early and help you find it, which is a different service and an honest one.

Where the work has been

Sectors most advisers never see the inside of. The pressures rhyme across all of them, but the vocabulary does not, and using the wrong one costs you the room in the first ten minutes.
